PICTURES COMING SOON!!
On Thursday 29th January 2015, I went on a trip to Berlin with my fellow Graphic Designers, I was very fortunate to be staying in a room with 4 second year students, the trip consisted of various students from first and second year of university, and I made so many great friends on the trip. We also created so many memories, and some sayings we will never forget. Yes we all probably put on weight from the amount of Fanta we drunk and kebabs/crepes we ate.
We got to see so many amazing things on the first day we went to a company based in Berlin that worked alongside many different companies however it was more commercialised therefor I wasn't as interested in it as I personally prefer experimental work which brings me onto another company we went to see called Hort. You can visit their website here http://www.hort.org.uk/, it was so exciting and we learnt so many amazing things, and inspiring, we learnt that many companies go to them on a regular basis such as nike and disney, with Disney being the first company to give them a big break, the big companies that pay them then covers costs for smaller companies which they voluntary do. They also take on many internships every year which I plan to do in two years time.
I did a lot of tourist-y things as well, such as going on a seven seater bike, we then went round and saw many things such as; hitlers bunker, the jewish memorial, ottoman, the east side gallery, brandenburg gate, checkpoint charlie and many more things. Before I went away I found a youtuber called Woltors World, and he showed the top ten things to do whilst in Berlin, I have posted the video below, I have found many video bloggers since coming back and I have posted their videos to show.
One of the main things which I took away, was how much Germany want to forget the war, I am not asking to forget our loved ones and the innocent people we lost however I do feel people need to understand that in todays society the german citizens still shouldn't be blamed and it opened my eyes a lot more by talking to the different people and hearing the same thing. The other thing that coincides with this is the fact of after the Berlin wall was torn down, the Berlin citizens fully believed war was over and peace was going to finally come after both wars and all the problems with the wall. As we are all aware war hasn't ended and it makes me question will it ever?
Anyway i'll add lots of pictures and video's and I hope you enjoy!
