Postmodernism in visual communication.

In this week's lecture we learnt and researched about post modernism. 

These are the many different words/phrases to explain postmodernism. In the early 20th Century, the war to end all wars didn't end wars, however modernists didn't want to forget history, they want to reinterpret it, artists such as Dali and Picasso did this. Postmodernism began 3pm on March 16th 1972, Modernism had failed by forging a world, they believed less was more. However postmodernists thought more referencing would make more conclusions. They believe that Picasso had one style which became boring, they wanted people to ask questions by including collage and other techniques in the work. 

This photo I believe shows different techniques and styles within one photo. The words 'piss on you world', stand out with the writing being in white against the red background. Christopher has used the stereotypical colours of red and blue, which grab the audiences attention, however you instantly are drawn to the man wearing the horns on his head with the crown crossed out. When you look closely below him is a map of the world with lines across it symbolising humans not having any freedom. 

This image is showing wealth, Michael Jackson was one of the most well known men in the world, he was the King of Pop to many people, and he helped so many people. He was a very wealthy man and this is shown by him being pictured with his monkey, which many people can not afford this is also shown, with him being painted in gold.
