How do we think about subjectivity?

In week six's lecture we learnt about subjectivity within imagery.

I feel the above image makes us question signification. I feel it shows the boat being held captive, this can either be symbolised as, Nelson's ship is now no longer Nelson's, the freedom has been taken away and locked up, or it can also show how proud we are of everything Nelson did that we will do anything to protect it where none can harm it.

I feel this above image, shows the sexual orientation around men and women however with household items. Therefore the significance of the women being 'placed/stood' on top of a table which could symbolise a women having a hierarchy above men, which has changed when we have modernised as women now have more rights and a lot of women have more power then men. For example we have a Queen running the United Kingdom. They are shown hardly dressed, they are pictured in just underwear which also shows how generations have changed as the clothing has become less and less through the years, in the 1800's it was forbidden to show any skin, by the 1920's (Gatsby year) it was short flapper dresses. Now in the 21st century, majority of role models (Singers and actress') are pictured majority of them showing a lot of skin, and songs are very sexually orientated now. This can be seen with the white fabric linking the two chairs symbolising 'pleasure' between the two.
